Our 2nd Capacity Building Training was Held

Non-governmental organizations operating in the field of higher education and their members came together in the “Effective Management” education.

Many representatives and members of non-governmental organizations from Turkey gathered in Ankara to ensure the active participation of civil society in the higher education system and to increase the capacities of human resources.

The Capacity Building Training project coordinator of the “Active Participation of Civil Society in the Higher Education System” project, which received grant support within the scope of the third term of the Civil Society Support Program implemented by the European Union Presidency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was hosted by the Academicians Union Association. Members and representatives from Türk Eğitim-SEN, Gazi University, Bilkent University, Karabük University, Fırat University, Anda Association and Ministry of Justice as well as project partner Young Academics Education Culture and Research Association representatives attended the Capacity Building Training.

President of the Association of Academicians and Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. İsmail ŞAHİN stated in his opening speech that the aim of the project is to “strengthen NGOs in order to ensure the active participation of civil society in the modernization of higher education”. Şahin also underlined that the project has three special goals:

Increasing the institutional and organizational capacities of NGOs,
Developing NGO cooperation models and strategies to be involved in decision-making processes in higher education, and
Developing NGO capacity for more active participation in higher education and its future
Later, the President of the Academicians Union Association, Prof. Dr. İsmail ŞAHİN stated that the Association of Academicians has been operating on the Higher Education system and the problems and future of academic life for about 30 years, and that they aim to reveal a cooperation model related to the active participation of NGOs in the Higher Education system by carrying out a comprehensive study with this project. Stating that it is aimed to increase the institutional and organizational capacities of NGOs with the trainings given within the scope of the project, ŞAHİN said, “In this way, NGOs will participate more actively in Higher Education and its future.”
